Edersee Primeval Forest Trail

The 27 km long Edersee is considered one of the largest and most beautiful reservoirs in Europe! The lake has been dammed by the monumental Eder Dam for over 100 years now and has a huge impact on the landscape in the Edersee adventure region. The route of the 68 km long primeval forest trail runs around the Edersee. The "Quality Trail for Hiking in Germany" certified by the German Hiking Association shows you impressively what makes the region special: It is the alternation of water and forest, the play of colors of living nature. The extensive beech forests of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, the bizarre primeval forests of the Edersee steep slopes, the rural cultural landscape and the deep blue Edersee harmoniously shape the captivating overall picture. The landscape is not only a feast for the eyes, but has also developed into an extraordinary excursion and holiday paradise.
