Not far from Mühlhause, the Hainich National Park spreads out majestically before its visitors.
Beautiful hiking trails criss-cross the largest contiguous deciduous forest area in Germany.
You should climb to the top of the primeval forest.
At over 500 metres, the treetop path winds its way through the leaves of the stately deciduous trees to above their treetops.
Beautifully designed information areas, seating and climbing stations, not just for children, make the visit a real experience.

A MUST for hikers!
If you want to discover the national park, you can set off on your own or be accompanied by a hiking guide. There are 18 hiking trails that offer very different insights into the ‘primeval forest in the middle of Germany’. A 1.5 km treetop trail takes visitors to Hainich 30 metres up into an otherwise inaccessible area of the national park. Here you can enjoy the view over the treetops across the entire Hainich and the Thuringian Basin.

The barrier-free path meanders 540 metres through the impressive treetops of the national park.
Discover lots of interesting and astonishing facts about the natural features, flora and fauna of the Hainich.
Our tip: Enjoy the impressive panoramic view over the Hainich and the Thuringian Basin from the 44 metre high observation tower.
