Forest ball track
The new highlight in Rotenburg is unique in the region and invites the whole family to play and have fun while hiking with 11 ball tracks over a total distance of 2.2 km. The track is used with wooden balls, which are available for €2 from four machines. More info >>

The Knüll Wildlife Park
Visit the wolves and bears in Little Red Riding Hood Land at Knüll Wildlife Park.
Please register online in advance so that nothing stands in the way of your visit.

The Rotenburg multi-generational playground with barefoot path
... delights young and old and is worth a short hike (approx. 20 minutes on foot).
The path leads past the game enclosure with petting zoo.
Swing forest and mini golf in Rotenburg Castle Park
Behind the castle in the castle park you will find plenty of opportunities to let off steam.
Enjoy the Fulda Valley by bike
A tour to Breitenbacher See or to Morschen to the drawbridge over the Fulda is a great tip. Bicycles can be booked at reception.
Wartburg & wild cat village Hütscheroda
How about a trip to the famous Wartburg Castle in Eisenach?
Travel time: approx. 1 hour
The wild cat village of Hütscheroda is just 20 minutes away from Wartburg Castle. You can watch the cats being fed there several times a day.
Open from 10 am to 6 pm.
Travel time back to Rotenburg: approx. 1 hour
Alheimer observation tower
From the Alheimer Hütte, a 20-minute walk leads to the Alheimer viewing tower. From up here you have a wonderful view over the entire region.
Reachable on foot or by car: approx. 1 hour
The beer garden of the Alheimer Hütte is open Saturday & Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm.
Black Stories Junior Hiking Trail
This trail starts at the “Pilzchen” along the R1 walking trail. Exciting puzzles are waiting to be solved here. This makes the family walk something very special.
Solztal children's trail
On the approx. 3 km long circular trail for children, young and old explorers get to know the natural environment in the forest and meadows.
Travel time: approx. 30 minutes
“wortreich” hands-on museum
This fantastic museum of a special kind in Bad Hersfeld is a world of knowledge and experience for communication with an interactive exhibition. It's fun for everyone.
Travel time: approx. 25 minutes.
FAMILY-ESCAPE-GAME
Team spirit, creativity and logical thinking in nature - solve a special case in the Escape Forest with the whole family according to the concept of Escape Games. All equipment is provided.
