History
The foundation stone for the hotel complex of Göbel's Hotel Rodenberg and the Göbel Hotels Arena was laid in 1974 by the architect Heinz Meise with his construction and opening of one of the largest cardiovascular centers in Europe in Rotenburg an der Fulda on the Rodenberg. In addition to the center, the Hotel Pergola was also opened in the immediate vicinity as an accommodation option for patients' relatives.
As early as the 1970s, the Hotel Pergola developed excellently as a conference and vacation hotel and a popular accommodation in football circles. After the first extension was already completed in these years, plans for an even larger hotel quickly matured.
The Hotel Rodenberg opened in 1989. Directly connected to the Pergola via a connecting corridor, it now complemented the hotel ensemble on the Rodenberg. After five directors in four years, Wolf-Dieter Faltin was primarily responsible for the good development as director of both hotels for 27 years.
In 1997, the MEIROTELS hall was added. The developer, Meise, called it "a larger conference room". It brought athletes from all over the world, handball and basketball world championships, training camps and television broadcasts to the Hotel Rodenberg.
After the insolvency, the Hotel Rodenberg continued to belong to Pergola KG and thus to the HKZ Group. From December 2006, Lindner Hotels took over responsibility and management as operators for a few years before the hotel complex was sold to Göbel Hotels in 2009. Since then, the Willingen hotelier family has successfully continued the gastronomic tradition above the rooftops of Rotenburg and has run the hotels and the multi-purpose hall under the names "Göbel's Hotel Rodenberg" and "Göbel Hotels Arena".
