A family vacation in Willingen is a highlight for the whole family.
Antje Gerstenecke, freelance journalist, mother of two and family travel blogger, was able to see this for herself.
“We were surprised at how much Willingen has to offer in a small space. There's something for everyone here, big and small, because the possibilities are endless. Hiking, museums, leisure parks, ski jumps, adventure or 3D mini golf, ice rink, climbing garden, cycling, mountain biking, climbing, biathlon, swimming or stand-up paddling - to name just a few activities. There are also plenty of cafés and restaurants and, of course, stores of all kinds.”
Three new adventure trails start directly at the popular Hochheideturm. They make the Ettelsberg a varied and exciting excursion destination for families, hikers and nature lovers.
• At 837 meters, the Ettelsberg is not only a paradise for hikers in summer, but also for mountain bikers
• With its long trails of varying degrees of difficulty, it offers ideal conditions for beginners and advanced riders alike
• The chairlift or gondola lift takes you up to the summit
• The high heath landscape is worth seeing, as is the breathtaking view from the 59-metre-high Hochheideturm tower
• Those who enjoy hiking will find plenty of opportunities up here
• Beautiful hiking trails lead through the magnificent high heath landscape and through the forests.

• At the bottom of the outrun is the Café Aufwind with a great view over the ski jump facility
• Great fun for the whole family
• The ski lift takes you up and then you can experience the 700-meter-long run down into the valley
• With the ball (available from the vending machine) you can use the 60-metre-long run for as long as you like - and take it home with you as a souvenir afterwards.
• The climbing hall offers courses of all levels of difficulty. There is also a large bouldering hall and another hall for archery.
• In the Willingen glass factory right next door, you can not only buy handmade glass creations, but also watch the glassblowers at work for a small fee.
• When on vacation in Willingen, a trip to the nearby Diemelsee lake is a must.
• Not only can you swim there, but you can also hire stand-up paddle boards, rowing boats or electric boats and explore the lake.
• A trip to the Diemelsee can be ideally combined with a bike tour.
• Our tip: Use our in-house e-bikes for hire and enjoy a tour of the surrounding area.
• The total distance is around 40 kilometers there and back, and you should allow around three hours for the ride.
• The cozy outdoor terrace at Göbel's Seehotel directly on the Diemelsee invites you to linger.
