Germany's longest suspension bridge
The spectacular Skywalk Willingen stretches over an impressive length of 665 m and hovers at a lofty height of 100 m above the breathtaking landscape of Upland and Sauerland. The imposing suspension bridge offers visitors spectacular views. The Skywalk is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world and is actually the longest self-supporting suspension bridge in the world. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the impressive Mühlenkopfschanze, the largest large ski jump in the world. This unique combination allows visitors not only to enjoy the impressive view of the surrounding forests, mountains and valleys from the Skywalk, but also to take a look at the imposing ski jump.
The Skywalk Willingen is open all year round, allowing visitors to experience the thrill and beauty of nature at any time of year - an unforgettable experience! The Café Aufwind restaurant provides excellent catering.

• There are cashless machines at the two entrances on the Musenberg and at the Mühlenkopfschanze. Payment can only be made by EC card.
• Staffed ticket offices are located at the World Cup ski jump, at the K1 chairlift and at the Ettelsberg gondola lift. Please note the opening hours of the respective ticket offices. They are different and do not coincide with the opening hours of the Skywalk.

Since August 2024, there is even more to discover on the Ettelsberg in Willingen: Three new adventure trails invite you to adventure.
Linne's treasure: an interactive adventure trail (via app) for children aged 6-12. Join Linne and his gang on an exciting treasure hunt on the Ettelsberg. At the end, a small treasure beckons as a reward! (The surcharge for the treasure hunt is €2.00 per child)
Rieke's caterpillar trail: A colorful circular trail for the little ones (2-6 years) around the mountain lake. Here children experience Rike's exciting journey to the Ettelsberg on oversized picture book pages.
s'Ründchen: Perfect for leisurely strollers. There are picnic benches and massage trees in beautiful places to relax and unwind, or admire the view in the nature cinema and take a souvenir photo on the largest chair in the Sauerland at the end of the circular trail.
Adventure playground: In addition to the three adventure trails, an adventure playground has also been created - a real paradise for our little guests with opportunities for climbing, balancing, jumping, sliding and much more.
DIEMELSEE (approx. 10 minutes by car): Bathing beaches, slides, boating, boat tour, bike tour around the lake, bike adventure park
TWISTESEE (approx. 50 minutes by car): Large water playground with sandy beach, water skiing, boating and more
Entertaining and varied themed hiking trail with Helma the cow, who accompanies you along 8 interactive stations plus information boards and tells you lots of interesting facts about milk and farming. The trail is ideal for families with children and has a total length of approx. 6 km, for which you can plan approx. 3.5 hours.
Play on 18 holes of varying difficulty directly under the Willingen landmark. With luck and skill, you will experience an adventure of a special kind. The varied course impresses with its original obstacles in a wonderful, natural setting in the middle of Willingen.
Sitting on the toboggan, pulled 250 m uphill by the drag lift, the 700 m of tobogganing fun begins right at the top without having to change. Everyone can toboggan however they like, whether small or large, young or old, alone or in pairs. The summer tubing facility, the giant trampolines and the children's playground also guarantee maximum fun.
Comfortably high up with the cable car with a unique panorama. Enjoy the view of Willingen while you travel safely and comfortably up the 838-metre-high Ettelsberg in one of Germany's most modern cable cars. The spacious cabins are also suitable for baby carriages, wheelchairs and mountain bikes, as well as for transporting skis and snowboards in winter.
As the highest viewing tower in the Sauerland, the Hochheideturm offers a magnificent panoramic view from the viewing platform. A special experience for kids is the landscape playground at the foot of the tower, which has been continually expanded in recent years.
Around 70 species and a total of 250 animals live in the wildlife and leisure park on the Ettelsberg, including game, exotic animals such as Barbary apes and parrots as well as brown bears. There is plenty to discover and marvel at in the game enclosure, fairytale forest, leisure park, Dinoland, hunting museum and forest nature trail.
The Mühlenkopfschanze is not only worth a visit during the World Cup ski jumping competition. All year round, visitors can use the funicular for ascents and descents and take the glass elevator up to the jump tower, where the top stars of the ski jumping scene get ready to take off year after year.
The Willingen high ropes course has an exclusive location above the Mühlenkopf ski jump. Platforms up to 20 meters high are located between giant beech trees and offer a breathtaking view of the Strycktal valley. The panoramic route includes various exercises, nets, beams, poles, a skateboard, swing bridges and a rope slide. Those who dare can then climb the treetop path. Here, at a height of almost 20 meters, completely new impressions and challenges await, such as the flea jump, a rope bridge, an hourglass and a ninja path. Excitement and fun are guaranteed!
The latest bikes are available at the Bergamont Test Center of the Snow & Bike Factory: Touring, downhill, freeride, ladies' or kid bikes. On the guided tours - also for groups - the team will show you the Hochsauerland from its most beautiful side. Downhill and freeride routes start directly at the cable car mountain station. Brand new: Segway rental station Willingen. And of course in winter there is a very large ski hire shop and ski course offers for winter sports fans.
Unlimited adventure fun for young and old. The largest leisure park in the Sauerland with many attractions, shows and events offers fun and action for the whole family (approx. 35 minutes by car).
Great leisure fun in beautiful natural surroundings and enchanting scenery. In Ottlar, not far from Willingen, guests of all ages can learn interesting facts about maize cultivation and agriculture. There are maze trails in the maize field with different levels of difficulty and interesting quizzes.
There is a lot to see in the Europa-Golddorf Bruchhausen directly on the Rothaarsteig: the Bruchhauser Steine visitor destination with the information center at the entrance offers an interesting and natural insight into culture, landscape and history. The four porphyry rocks are of supra-regional importance and have been a “National Natural Monument” since April 2017.
Discover, for example, the Hanseatic town of Korbach, the baroque town of Bad Arolsen with its royal palace, the Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe mountain park or the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park.
Gold was once actually mined in Eimelrod! Even today, old shafts, spoil heaps and tunnels bear witness to gold mining between the 11th and 15th centuries. Information boards tell the exciting story of this period. The gold, which was bound in the rock, was dissolved out and accumulated as so-called “placer gold” in the sediments of the rivers. With a bit of luck, you can still find it today. So go on a treasure hunt, follow the gold trail and don't forget your sieves!
Although the volcano has long been extinct, a “hot trail” leads to the Grotenberg. On the volcano trail, hikers repeatedly discover traces of the earth's history and historical boundary lines. The volcano and its deposits have had a lasting impact on the landscape and cultural development around Welleringhausen. There is another, shorter circular tour nearby. The history trail explains interesting geological features and takes you on a short journey through geological and cultural history.
The section from Schwalefeld to Rattlar on the Upland Reflection Trail is dedicated to children. Small wooden panels depict animals that need to be “rescued” and brought to “Noah's Ark”. One by one, they are traced and colored in. At the end, all the animals are taken to the Church of Lights in Rattlar.
Bikewelt Willingen is a paradise for cyclists and mountain bikers in the midst of breathtaking natural scenery. Numerous routes and trails for every level await you here, from relaxed tours to action-packed downhill descents. The bike park offers various routes for all levels of difficulty as well as practice areas for beginners. Modern lifts are also available to make the ascent easier. Whether e-bike, mountain bike or racing bike - Willingen offers a wide range of options for active holidaymakers.
The fluorescent 3D painting by international artists takes you on a journey through 3 themed worlds (universe, fantasy world or sunken Mayan city) with 18 holes for a very special kind of minigolf. Experience leisure fun for family, friends and after-work heroes, regardless of the weather. For children aged 8 and over.
The 30 x 60 meter ice rink directly at the visitor center and opposite the lagoon adventure pool offers a variety of ice skating fun almost all year round. Beginners and experts alike get their money's worth on a perfectly prepared ice surface. Ice hockey and curling are also available by appointment.
Climbing and archery under one roof. After an expert introduction to safety techniques, you can learn up to 150 different routes of difficulty levels 3 - 10 on the 700 m2, ten-metre-high climbing wall, which you can climb for as long as you like. Children from the age of 6 can take part. The 150 m2 bouldering area is new.

Operations in the “Christine” slate mine ceased in 1971. Since then, the mine has been open to visitors and is part of the 'Grenz-Welten' GeoPark. The slate mine offers an insight into a self-supporting chamber mine from the 20th century. Experienced divers can even dive into the flooded tunnel.
In addition to the “Christine” mine, there are other mines and tunnels in the area that invite you to visit, e.g. the “Christiane Mine” in Adorf, the “Eisenberg Gold Mine” near Korbach or the “Kilianstollen” in Marsberg.
