The area in and around Willingen offers every opportunity for your bike tour: explore the area, get fit on long laps through the mountains or challenge yourself on the trails. With the MTB Zone Bikepark, Willingen offers riding fun on 8 freeride and downhill trails over a total length of 12 kilometers. The Ettelsberg gondola lift and the 8-seater K1 chairlift take bikers up to the Ettelsberg plateau, from where they enter the MTB Zone.

NEW: GreenTrails - Your mountain bike adventure in northern Hesse starts now!
The GreenTrails are a must-do for mountain bikers of all levels. On the gentle beginner trails, you can easily familiarize yourself with your bike, while on the more challenging trails you can put your skills to the test. A total of 200 kilometers of varied mountain bike trails are to be created in the North Hesse region by 2028. There will also be 200 kilometers of connecting trails that will allow you to discover the entire region on two wheels. The Willingen trail area opened this year and currently covers a total length of 19.36 km.
Experience the breathtaking descents, the gentle hills and the exciting bends that the GreenTrails offer. Whether alone, with friends or family - there is something for every mountain biker. Pack your bike and discover the Green Trails. It will be an adventure you won't soon forget!

The leading bike park brand MTB ZONE has also been taking off in Willingen since 2019.
With a total length of 13 km, the BikePark Willingen offers trails for all levels, from beginners to experienced riders. Whether flow country trail, freeride trail, downhill or the pump track - here you can experience action and adventure on 8 trails and experience riding fun with a real adrenaline kick. Mountain bikers are transported by the new Ettelsberg cable car or the K1 8-seater chairlift. In addition to the practice course, the BikePark also offers courses and bike rental.

No. 1: Zwei-Länder-Schleife / Two-country loop
• Length: 125 km
• Elevation gain: 2,172 m
• Duration: approx. 6.5 hours
• Technique / fitness level: intermediate-advanced
A long but fantastic loop through the beautiful Sauerland region. The tour crosses the borders of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. After a high-altitude ascent to Winterberg, past the Kahler Asten, the route leads across the state border back to Hesse past the Diemelsee lake in Heringhausen.
No. 2: Diemelsee Tour
• Length: 44 km
• Elevation gain: almost 960 m
• Duration: approx. 4 hours
• Technique / fitness level: medium / medium
• Bike Arena Tour No. 30
A trail-rich descent over the Eimberg border ridge and the deep blue Diemelsee in one tour. These two highlights are tempting on this moderately difficult tour through the Sauerland. After a relaxing break at the Diemelsee, the route takes you back to Willingen through mountains, fields and forests.
No. 3: Diemelquelle Runde
• Length: 15 km
• Elevation gain: just under 280 m
• Duration: approx. 1.5 hours

• Tour suggestion for families
Our tip for families and beginners. Past the viaduct in Willingen - a 294 m long viaduct built in 1917 - along the famous ski jump, the trail leads you to the Diemel spring with a steep section. At the end of the tour, the route takes you along the Orenbergschanze, which serves as a training hill for young ski jumpers.
Enjoy the picturesque landscape of the Sauerland on your tours and discover the most beautiful places to rest, e.g. the Clemens Cross on the Hochheide, the Hoher Eimberg, the Bruchhäuser Steine or the Orenberg with great viewpoints. The numerous catered huts in the surrounding area are always an insider tip for a stopover, including Ettelsberg Hütte, Graf-Stolberg-Hütte, Einkehrschwung or Hochheide Hütte
